The bus station Zvonarka welcomes daily more than 25,000 passengers from around the republic and Europe who get some first impressions about the city here. The project counts on a full modernization, especially, increasing its functionality, clarity and esthetic unification of the bus station premises.
It is the linear arrangement of platforms which considerably defines the character of the station. The new concept is going to offer a better orientation and clarity to the passengers thanks to the usage of colours and a clear division without useless barriers. The steel construction of the roof, which is both technically and functionally unique on a continental scale, is going to be preserved. The construction generously overlaps the whole space of the platforms, at the size of a common city block, whereas the upper part of the roof construction serves as a large capacity decommissioned car park for buses.
It is aimed at a better flow of the bus station and a logical division of the bus service operation. On the surface of the bus station, there are going to be all the flags of European Union member countries, the roof structure is going to be lit by thousands of LED light strips. In this way, the adjusted public space is about to get a new character and identity to the whole extent.
